Dr. David B. Hamer

Dr. David B. Hamer has been practicing orthodontics in Charlottesville for over 23 years. He also sees patients in Crozet, where he offers a complimentary school shuttle and has a satellite office in Ruckersville. "I am most thankful for my family and my profession. My wife Margaret & our three children Jack, Carden, and Madeline are the light of my life. As an orthodontist I get to share in the joy of so many families as we create beautiful smiles and enhance self-esteem in our patients."
Dr. David B. Hamer is an Invisalign® “Premier Provider.” Invisalign® defines a Premier Provider as being in the top 5% of the nation in terms of experience and expertise; having received extra training from additional continuing education. For the 5th year in a row, Dr. Hamer is the only orthodontist in the area with this distinction.
Dr. Hamer is a past president of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Dental Society and has spoken to local dental groups on early interceptive orthodontic treatment for growth modification and space development for eruption of teeth. He was in the first graduating class of Western Albemarle High School, where he was voted Best Male Athlete. He holds degrees from the University of Virginia, the Medical College of Virginia and Columbia University. He appeared on CNN Live in 1989 discussing cosmetic changes in orthodontic appliances and presented to the American Association of Orthodontists at their national meeting in 1988. In addition to the excitement he has with the Invisalign® system, recognized by the company as the only "Premier Provider" in the area (for the 5th year in a row!), Dr. Hamer has also been working extensively over the past few years with a new type of braces, which is revolutionizing tooth movement. This innovative self-ligation bracket is dramatically reducing the number of treatment visits and total treatment time by eliminating friction.
He is an active board member for the Department of Medical Assistance Services in Richmond and is also vice-president of the board for the Community Children’s Dental Center; a non-profit dental center serving Medicaid children and other needy children. Dr. Hamer also maintains professional memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Virginia Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and the Shenandoah Dental Association.
Away from the office Dr. Hamer enjoys boating and fishing on Chesapeake Bay, playing tennis and coaching youth lacrosse. He is interested in learning more about and following migratory birds and fish; especially osprey and striped bass.
Dr. Richard LeHew

Dr. LeHew had a successful practice in Richmond for 40 years and now offers his knowledge and expertise on a part time basis in our practice. Something you may not know about Dr. LeHew: He holds the World Record for skeet shooting.
Dr. Camden Brown 
Orthodontist
Dr. Brown is the newest addition to our office and we are excited to add her to our team! Dr. Brown grew up in Hilton Head Island, SC and Tampa, FL. She attended college at the University of Florida, where she studied Neuroscience, was awarded highest honors and was inducted into the honor society Phi Beta Kappa. After college, Dr. Brown attended dental school at Harvard University. While at Harvard, she pursued research in cutting edge implant dentistry and was published for her work. She then went on to complete her orthodontic residency back at the University of Florida and was awarded both a certificate in orthodontics and a Master in dental sciences. There, Dr. Brown continued her passion for advancing the field of dentistry with her research investigation TMJ pain and muscle healing.
Community service has always been an important part of Dr. Brown’s life. During her childhood she participated annually in the Tampa Bay Humane Society’s Walk for the Animals. In college she continued her service by volunteering at a subsidized health care clinic and as she began her interest in dentistry, Dr. Brown helped lead several educational groups. Her favorite service project was leading Project Hands, which involved visits to local elementary schools to teach dental health education through creative art projects. She hopes to continue to find ways to stay active in Central Virginia and enhance the community.
In March of 2011 Dr. Brown got married to Andrew Brown. Andrew will be attending the University of Virginia for his masters in architecture. In their spare time they enjoy cooking, traveling, gardening, visiting antique stores and trying new food. They have really enjoyed getting to know Charlottesville and feel that the town is a perfect match!
