Welcome To The Orthodontic Practice Of About The Doctors Dr. David Hamer Dr. David Hamer was a member of the first graduating class of Western Albemarle High School. He attended UVA for his undergraduate degree, and the Medical College of Virginia for dental school. After dental school, Dr. Hamer was accepted into the orthodontic program at Columbia University. Dr. Hamer has been active promoting the latest technologies, working with Good Morning America, appearing on CNN, and presenting to the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Hamer returned to Charlottesville in 1988 to join his father in the practice of Drs. Hamer and Hamer. Dr. Fred Hamer, Jr. Dr. Fred Hamer, Jr. was the first University trained orthodontist in Charlottesville, where he established his private practice in 1960. He attended UVA, MCV, and Columbia University where his research was in the treatment of children with facial deformities. Following military service, Dr. Hamer moved to Charlottesville where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at UVA and was the Director of Orthodontics. He has held staff positions at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center, the State of Virginia Facial Deformity Board, and has been a member of the faculty of the Medical college of Virginia for over 35 years.
