Care For Your Braces

Drs. Hamer & Hamer -

Maintaining your appliances

Oral hygiene is extremely important! Try your best to keep your teeth clean. During orthodontic therapy, regular dental check-ups are required (every 6 months) with your general dentist. We provide services limited to orthodontics.

It is extremely important to limit hard and sticky foods during appliance wear. We rely a lot on patients not eating hard foods such as ice, crusty pizza, bagels, hard candy, etc. This can cause your braces to come off. When eating hard foods realize that your braces are held onto your tooth with special glue. As with any glue, an example being Elmers glue, if you pull on something you have glued with Elmers glue it will come off.

If you want to limit emergency appointments and get your braces off in a timely manner then your help in taking care of your braces is necessary.
